OVERVIEW
I am a 29-year-old guitarist, vocalist and songwriter with 15+ years of playing, writing and recording music, and I am seeking a strong and confident female vocalist to be the voice of my humble heavy metal project.
REQUIREMENTS
Ideally, you will have at least a passing interest in heavy/alternative music. If you're after Ariana Grande, Sabrina Carpenter or Adele as musical influences... I mean, MASSIVE respect, but this project is probably not for you.
That said, while it is heavy, the music is still very song-oriented, so the ability to sing melodically and somewhat cleanly is a must. Should you have the ability to scream or perform a more harsh vocal alongside, this would be a huge bonus but not essential, as melodies are more important here.
Songwriting aptitude is also welcome but not essential, as I do all of my own composing as well as tracking and editing. If an idea is good enough, however, I am usually willing to put my own stubbornness to one side to explore a different perspective. I also acknowledge that a lead singer needs to be happy with what it is they are singing, so there would be lots of leeway in that regard.
THE SOUND
It's a bit difficult to nail a specific sound, as the influences come from all over, but some of the band names mentioned when other people describe my music are:
- Killswitch Engage
- Machine Head
- Trivium
- Avenged Sevenfold
- Sevendust
- Rammstein
- Fear Factory
- Don Broco
- Marilyn Manson
- Mastodon
- Judas Priest
It's a mad list that probably extends beyond the above, but at some point ALL of these bands have been mentioned in reference to the material that I write. I should also say that these aren't necessarily the inspiration, but simply the result of the writing and recording process when in demo/final form.
VOCAL EXAMPLES
You'll notice that none of the bands in the list above feature female vocalists. However, bear with me, because my inspirations musically have included and still include the following:
- Evanescence
- Within Temptation
- Djerv
- Nightwish
- Lacuna Coil
- Lesbian Bed Death
- Ithaca
- The Warning
- The Dark Element
- Icon For Hire
- New Year's Day
These and more are what I associate with being the ideal heavy music female vocal. Soprano, alto, clean, unclean, dark, bright... whatever. There's only one word for the running theme: power. If you have that, we have something to work with.
LOCATION
I am based near Loughborough in Leicestershire. I also have a studio which I use both for tracking and as a rehearsal space. Having your own transport and being able to drive is obviously helpful but not a deal breaker, as I know how pricey cars and driving licenses are these days.
If all of this sounds like something you would be interested in, please reply privately so we may talk further. Thank you for taking the time to read!
