What is Join My Band?

Hi, I'm Steve. I started Join My Band in 2006 after struggling to find a simple, free way to meet other musicians online. Everything felt clunky or paywalled, so I built something that actually worked.

Since then the site has grown into one of the busiest musicians classifieds in the UK. Thousands of musicians use it every day to find bandmates, start new projects or get back into music. It is still free, still straightforward and still focused on helping musicians connect.

Getting started

Is it free to post an ad?

Yes. Posting ads, browsing listings and replying to ads are all free. There is no charge for standard use.

How to post an ad

1. Click Place a free ad or choose your region.
2. Write your ad, keeping it clear and relevant.
3. Avoid posting the same ad in loads of regions. A few nearby locations is fine, but posting the same ad in 20 or more regions will be treated as spam and removed.
4. For UK wide content, use the National section.

Editing or deleting your ad

If you are logged in, you will see an ad control panel at the top of your post. From there you can:

• Edit your ad
• Remove the ad completely
• Delete all replies to the ad

You can also edit or delete individual replies using the buttons beside each post.

Replying to ads

You can reply to ads in a few ways:

• Threaded replies (public) for questions and general discussion
• Private messages for one to one chats

Avoid posting your phone number or email address in the public thread - use private messages instead.

Featured ads

Featured ads are a paid optional upgrade. They:

• Appear above regular ads in their region
• Get more visibility and usually more replies
• Work well if you want quick responses

You can feature an ad for 3, 7 or 14 days. Payments are processed securely through PayPal using a PayPal account or a credit or debit card.

If your ad does not appear as featured within a couple of hours after payment, please contact us and we will check it for you.

Login problems

If you cannot log in, try the following:

1. Check that your username and password are correct. Both are case sensitive.
2. Use the password reset link on the login page if you are not sure your password is right.
3. Clear your browser cookies and try again.

If you are still having trouble logging in after that, get in touch and we will help you access your account.

Reporting spam or problem posts

We work hard to keep Join My Band clean and useful, but the community is a huge help. If you see a post that is spammy, irrelevant or inappropriate, please click the Report post button and we will review it.

Where necessary we remove posts and warn or ban offending users.
