Help!
So what is this Join My Band site?
Join My Band is simply a free musicians classifieds. I'm Steve, and I launched the site in October 2006 after having difficulty finding a free, simple and effective way to find a band to join online. Since then Join My Band has grown rapidly, with thousands of musicians using the site every day, and the site now generating (as of January 2013) over 2 million page views a month.
It's great hearing from members who've found themselves a band through the site, so if you have had success with Join My Band, or do so in the future, do get in touch and let me know, and if you're not a member, why not sign up and post an ad - it only takes a few minutes and it's free to do.
So whether you're looking for a drummer, guitarist, bassist, vocalist or any other musician, Join My Band is here to help you in your search for band members!
Good luck!
A few hints, tips & FAQ's to get you started
So it's free to post an ad?
Yep. Join My Band was originally set up to be a free resource for musicians to help find bandmates, and there are no plans for it to stop being free!
Managing your posts
If you'd like to edit or delete one of your posts, you can do so using the buttons located on the post itself. If you've posted an ad and would like remove the ad and all replies, you can do so using the ad control panel that appears at the top of your ad when you're logged in.
Login problems
If you're having trouble logging in, first ensure you've entered your username and password correctly - both are case sensitive! If you're not sure your password is right, you can always reset it using the link on the login page. However, if you're sure all your details are correct, often the cause of any login issues is related to your browser cookies. Deleting any session cookies will generally fix the issue - for help on how to do this try this website: http://www.aboutcookies.org/Default.aspx?page=2. If after doing that you still can't login, contact us and we'll try and get things sorted for you.
Reporting spam
We do our best to keep an eye on the posts on Join My Band, but if you spot a spammy/irrelevant/stupid/inappropriate post before we do, we're really grateful if you would let us know about it via the report post button in the top right of the post. We'll then look into it and where necessary remove the post and warn/ban any offending users.
Posting an ad
You've got plenty of links and buttons to choose from, the most prominent probably being up there in the top nav. Just click the link, choose your region and post away. We just ask that you keep things sensible, don't fill it with rude words, and make sure it's relevant. Also, don't post the same ad across loads of regions - a few neighbouring regions is one thing, but the same ad in 20, 30 regions will just be seen as spam and removed. If you've got something relevant to the entire country, please post it in the National section.
Replying to ads
You can reply to ads and receive replies in several ways. Ads are laid out in a threaded discussion format, something we've found to work really well over the years as it allows users to collaborate, share ideas, elaborate and answer questions about their project easily. However, you can also send messages using private message button at the foot of each post or send an email via a form - we recommend that if you'd like to share any personal details such as your phone number or email address, you don't post it in the thread and use the private message/email function.
Featured ads
While we've kept Join My Band free to use, we've also added a paid option with which you can feature your ad for 3, 7 or 14 days. So if you've got a particularly urgent position to fill, or would just like to get a few more eyeballs on your ad, for a small amount you feature your ad. Featured ads appear above regular ads in their respective region, and generally get up to 5 times as many views as regular ads. To feature an ad, use the link on the ad in question's control panel. Payments are handled by Paypal, and you can use your Paypal account of credit card. Note. If you've paid for a featured ad and it's not showing up as featured yet, please note that while the majority of ads are processed within half an hour, it can take up to a few hours for it to appear featured. If it's been longer, get in touch and we'll look into it for you asap.
I'm confused about [something]
Just drop us an email and we'll do our best to help.
Above all though...
Enjoy! I set up Join My Band to be a free and useful resource for musicians, so if we keep things sensible and nice, we'll all have a much better chance of finding the band mates we're looking for. Good luck!
