I'm looking for musically minded people who have had interesting ideas when it comes to either recording music , musical arrangement or the area / building where the music is captured.
For me im 26 and currently studying to get into water bear next year. I can play guitar , bass or drums and happy with secondary or backup vocals . I have many guitar pedals and the cliche weird equipment like a theremin. A good synth with the korg ms-20. Of course many plugins in protools. (Thats not the selling point but a few things to use) Anyway here's my pitch ...
Have you ever had an absolutely ridiculous idea for a song, sound or musical experiment but never had the equipment, people or opportunity to actually try it?
That's exactly the kind of thing I'm looking for.
I'm looking for creative, open-minded musicians who want to experiment without worrying about whether something is too weird, impractical or completely out of pocket.
My biggest influences are System of a Down, My Chemical Romance and Stolen Babies. I love how these bands aren't afraid to be theatrical, unpredictable, heavy, funky or whatever. However my mind is always open for different genres but these bands have ultimately defined my tastes.
But rather than just trying to replicate their sound, I want to see what happens when people with completely different ideas come together and start experimenting.
For example, I've thought about taking recording equipment into supposedly haunted locations, messing around with spirit boxes, capturing strange noises and seeing if we can turn any of it into something musical. Not because I'm convinced ghosts are going to write our next album, but because why not see what happens? In terms of musical arrangement I have a fascination with "the golden ratio" the Fibonacci sequence. I feel solos or riffs composed around the ratio can be an interesting process and in terms of the mix the seetings could replicate the ratios . So Eq ranges can be adjusted to also match etc. Just things like that. Im open to take any ideas or inspiration to the next level.
That's just one of my ideas. I'm far more interested in hearing yours.
Want to combine metal with an instrument that has absolutely no business being there? Great.
Got some bizarre recording technique you've always wanted to test? Let's try it.
Have an idea that sounds so stupid you've never bothered mentioning it to another musician? That's probably the one I want to hear most.
I've spent a lot of time learning music production and building up a home recording setup, including Pro Tools, guitars, synthesisers, orchestral instruments, effects and various other bits of equipment. I'm still learning myself, but I've got enough to start bringing some pretty unusual ideas to life.
I'm happy to help with recording, producing, experimenting with sounds and figuring out how to turn an idea into something that actually works.
You don't have to be an incredible musician or even know exactly how your idea would work. I'm interested in people with imagination who are willing to try things.
Ultimately, I'd love to build a band around this mentality, but I'm just as interested in meeting creative people, collaborating and seeing what we can come up with.
Based in Eastbourne, East Sussex.
Looking forward to hearing back. Happy to get to know some people who have been looking for an opportunity to attempt some experimental techniques.
