Hi, we’re looking for a vocalist for our newly formed funk covers band.
Age or gender isn't important but you’ve got to love this style of music, commit to learning songs before rehearsals, and be able to belt them out when you get there!
There's four of us at the moment (guitar, bass, keys and drums). All experienced musicians and friendly people, looking to make something fun and musically worthwhile which we can take out and gig when it's ready.
Rehearsals are at Pirate Studios on a weekday evening, usually every fortnight or so depending on work and family stuff.
We’re not expecting you to sound like anyone in particular, or adapt to lots of different styles or anything. Ideally we’re just after someone easy going and friendly with a natural, raw voice, who’s comfortable interpreting the vocal lines on their own and giving it a bit of wellie!
The basic plan is to put together a set list which is mainly comprised of less well known grooves, but with the occasional more popular song thrown in too. As long as it isn’t one which has been done to death or anything!
It’d be amazing if you could provide some audio or video samples of yourself singing live at a jam session or with a previous band. But if not, just something done on your phone would be cool too. An uptempo example please rather than a ballard, as we'll be looking to get people dancing, Please message me and point me towards an example, or WhatsApp me on 07565225824 with something if you're happy to.
It's impossible to cover everything in one of these band adverts, so if you have any questions please ask away and I'll do my best to answer.
Looking forward to hearing from you!
Thanks,
Dan
