I am putting together a group of rockers to take the story of the early Status Quo; not the soft incarnation of the 90's, but the hard driving boogie rock that launched those boys in the first place. Music from Ma Kelly's, Piledriver, Hello and Quo to name but a few, but you get my drift. Getting my drift is key here, as to take the story to the world I need serious Quo appreciation people to deliver with passion.
A bit about me: I am a seasoned musician, playing in originals bands as well as cover bands that has taken things seriously, appreciating that the audience pay good money to watch, whether through spending money at the bar or through buying tickets on the tours, here and overseas, and I believe they deserve good value for their investment in time given to watch. I quit the scene after the pandemic as I lost interest to be honest, but now I have the buzz back primarily through accidentally coming across YouTube videos of "first reaction" videos on American channels of the early hard rocking Quo songs. The reaction from todays generation to those songs was enlightening, especially as the band never cracked it over there. This has motivated me to clean up my gear that has been sitting in a spare room for 6 years, and here we are.
The aim is for the band to personally practice at home and rehearse together weekly from here until late winter, to hit the venues then and to get festival slots. This is not for the wannabe's as their time will be short lived; I need people who will have this as a commitment and ambition.
So, if this is you I would like to hear from you. I can flip between rhythm and bass, so I am looking for lead guitar, rhythm guitar, drums and keyboards. I would welcome someone who can take the lead on singing too.
When replying, tell me about your musical experience, your ability to be dedicated together with challenges on that front (family/work etc) and whether you have a knowledge, appreciation and passion for the music from Quo. Please also list 6 songs that you feel best illustrate the type of Quo music I am trying to put out there.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
