School of Uke is looking for talented musicians and performers to join our London teaching team as Lead and Assistant Tutors.
We teach adult group ukulele lessons in London pubs, from complete beginners through to advanced players.
NOTHIN BUT THE HITS. From contemporary favourites to classics, we embrace all genres of music: R&B, Soul, Afrobeat, Jazz, Latin, Pop, Rock, Indie and more.
You don't need to think of yourself as a “ukulele teacher”. We'd particularly love to hear from guitarists, bassists, singer-songwriters, multi-instrumentalists and other musicians or performers who might not previously have considered teaching ukulele.
The social side of SOU is just as important as the music, so we're looking for people who genuinely enjoy meeting people, bringing a group together and creating a fun atmosphere.
We're not conventional instrument tuition. We exclusively teach in pubs for a reason. They're relaxed, social spaces where people can learn, play music, have a drink and get to know each other. The experience of being in the room matters just as much as what's on the songsheet.??Available Roles
Lead Tutors: Strong musicianship, good practical music theory, confident singing and playing, and the ability to lead and engage a room. Teaching experience is preferred but not essential. We're also keen to hear from advanced musicians who could teach our higher-level groups.
Assistant Tutors: Competent ukulele or guitar, confident singing and, most importantly, love music, enjoy meeting people and know how to bring energy to a room. Bass guitar is particularly useful but not essential. Being able to sing and play at the same time is ideal, but again not essential.
Lesson Schedule: Mon, Tue or Wed evenings, 7–9pm. We're looking for people who can teach on any of those evenings, with a commitment to a 10-week course.
Start: week beginning 28 September
Training: from week beginning 21 September, depending on role
Pay Rates
Assistant: £48 rising to £58 per 2-hour lesson
Lead: £70.40 rising to £98.60 per 2-hour lesson
Interested? Send us a short summary or CV, your Mon–Wed availability and a short video introduction (max 60 seconds) telling us a little about yourself and why you'd like to work with School of Uke.
