Hi, I'm Jack, in my mid 20's, and been playing guitar and bass for around 10 years now, and can also do harsh vocals in the forms of low growls and high screams.
I'd like to join a project either as a performer or contributor, something to sink my teeth into. I'm mostly into metal with progressive elements - the biggest influences on my own writing are probably Blackwater Park-era Opeth and Lamb Of God, but other bands I enjoy and aim to take influence from include Tool, Karnivool, Vektor, and Death to name a few. Also into more Nu-metally stuff like Slipknot, Mudvayne, etc. and more extreme acts like Meshuggah and Car Bomb. Ideallly I'd be involved in something similar to one or many of those, but I'm not too fussed about specific subgenres as long as there's something interesting going on.
As for vocal style, again I take a lot of inspiration from Opeth and Lamb Of God, Devin Townsend is also someone whose harsh vocals I aim for, and name a harsh vocalist that doesn't take at least a little from Corpsegrinder. I can't in confidence offer cleans nor lyricism, but backup vocals while playing an instrument is probably an ideal spot for me to slot in. Theoretically I can do lead vocals if someone else is writing lyrics/collaborative effort.
As for intruments I've got 6- and 8-string guitars, as well as 4- and 6-string basses.
I work a 9-5 so my only free time is at the weekend, hence the less serious aspect of what I'm looking for. Unfortunately I don't drive so ideally it's staying within the southeast "quadrant" just due to the nature of bringing instruments etc. around on long public transport journeys.
