Our band has just lost its keyboard player and we’d like to find another one.
We’re a bass/drums/guitar/keys group of experienced people writing and playing our own material. Two of us sing. We’ve done the covers/function thing and don't want to do that any more, but we all love to play.
We’ve been together since March, written some new stuff and played a few gigs to a good response. Melodic, catchy, atmospheric would be good words to describe what we’re doing.
You may not write yourself, but creating your own parts and arrangements might be more fun than you'd realised. You'd be welcome, writer or not. If you also want to sing, we’d be happy to oblige.
We play together regularly, record our music and want to perform what we've created to other people. Gigs won't be every weekend, so it won't feel like another job. It's hard to see it in the Bournemouth area sometimes, but we think there's a wave of interest in original music that is starting to rise, and we want to ride it.
We're all aged 60-65 and retired.
I’m the guitarist. I try to be blind to genres, but if pushed, my own stuff is influenced by snappy, melodic guitar pop/rock groups (Big Star, MC5, Jam, XTC), early '70s progressive music (Yes, Genesis, VDGG), Can/Neu type stuff and anything else that moves me. Also partial to Richard Thompson, David Sylvian, PJ Harvey, Warpaint, Joni Mitchell and Laura Marling. Most of what I've written doesn't sound like any of them, though - but that's who helped shape me. What about you?
If any of this strikes a chord, do get in touch. Timing is everything and we're keen to get on with it!
