We are currently looking for two people; they can be any combination really, but we essentially need two guitarists, one (or both) to also cover keyboards occasionally and one (or both) to sing back up and also help out with MC’ing.
The idea is this: choose a strong selection of classic Punk, New Wave & Indie tunes for people in the crowd to come up on stage and sing with a really great and tight band backing them up, lyrics and backing vocals provided.
I’m looking to start rehearsing in the New Year, I hope the project will be fun for everyone, but I’m aware that there will be a lot of homework up front, it could take just a little more thought, dedication and organisation than the average covers band, but not much more, hopefully.
I think if we could establish a night somewhere, there's a decent chance of making something very cool and worthwhile.
The range of music would start at early punk stuff, moving through post punk/new wave, and onto 80s indie, perhaps stopping at early 90s alternative music.
To be effective as a live karaoke band, we need at least 60 songs in the tank. You can probably already imagine a few of the more obvious classic songs that would be included.
I feel like there’s scope to potentially play functions, festivals as well as pubs/clubs or even weddings.

No real age limitations, as long as you have the musicianship and are an easygoing person (a decent attitude and some flexibility are deal-breakers), but you also have to be very capable and have the energy and enthusiasm to learn 60+ tunes and put on a good show.
