Putting out the feelers looking for some like-minded musicians to start something up with.
I'm a 30 year old guitarist who's keen to get out of my bedroom and start regularly playing with people. I've been playing for a long time and been in some bands here and there but never anything that became much. Have my own gear and transport, just looking to get something together with ideally a drummer, bassist and another guitarist at least. Keyboards and other instruments would be cool too.
As the title suggests, I'm not too fussed on genre, just want to write some fun songs that could get an audience moving. I like a tonne of artists, ranging from dad rock classics (Led Zep, Queen, Jimi) to jazz, death metal, punk, indie, dance, ambient, whatever. Currently some of my favourite artists are Ween, Viagra Boys, Alvvays, My Bloody Valentine, Jon Hopkins, Daniel Avery, Failure, Turnover and Turnstile.
Playing wise I've been making a much more conscious effort with my guitar playing lately and making sure I *actually* practice and improve instead of noodling, lol. I really like to get the "wall of noise" thing going but also like to sit back and play more subtle parts too. I'm pretty decent on music theory knowledge and would love to bounce some ideas around with some other peeps, have some fun jams and hopefully get to a point where we're recording and gigging together. Ideally other people in this thing would be able to commit to fairly regular practices, even if it's just a couple of hours every week, or every other week. I've talked to some people from here before and most of the time it fizzles out before even meeting up, I'm keen on changing that!
Looking forward to hearing from some peeps.
