guitarist looking for musicians to make exciting prog metal Street

Saturday 3 Oct 2026, 8:49pm

hey, I'm Astra, a 16 year old advanced guitarist from Street, Somerset. i've been playing guitar since i was 7 and i'm particularly interested in progressive and technically challenging music, while always trying to keep things melodic and memorable.

here is a video of me playing a shred adaptation of Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata:

i love writing and performing, and i've written quite a bit of my own instrumental music influenced by artists such as:

- Dream Theater
- Periphery
- Plini
- Arcane Roots
- Intervals
- CHON
- Animals as Leaders
- Ok Goodnight

i'm also heavily influenced by classical composers such as Beethoven, Bach and Vivaldi. i like combining technical playing with strong melodies and my own ideas, rather than writing technical music just for the sake of being technical.

although prog is probably my main musical interest, i'm open to pretty much anything that pushes the boundaries of music while remaining genuinely listenable.

i was previously in a punk band from 2019 to 2024. although the style isn't what i'd personally want to play now, i really enjoyed the experience of being in a band and especially performing live. we eventually disbanded due to creative differences.

i'm now looking to find people who are interested in creating something original, ambitious and genuinely exciting to listen to.

i'm mainly looking for a drummer, bassist and vocalist, although i'm open to other musicians too. ideally i'd like to find people who are around my age, comfortable playing technically demanding material, and most importantly interested in writing original music rather than just playing covers. i'm not expecting everyone to be a prog nerd - i'm more interested in people who are creative, open-minded and want to create something unique.

if you're interested, feel free to message me on here
