Experienced singer-songwriter/frontman looking for two guitarists, bassist and drummer to build a serious original band.
I'm a London-based singer-songwriter and frontman with a substantial catalogue of original songs, developed demos, studio recording experience and live performances behind me.
I'm now looking to put together a completely new lineup of musicians who genuinely want to build something together and see how far we can take it.
THE SOUND
Modern British alternative rock. Dark, rhythmic, bass-driven, energetic and full of hooks.
Think Foals, Nothing But Thieves, Catfish & The Bottlemen, early Arctic Monkeys, Bloc Party and Biffy Clyro.
These are influences rather than bands we're trying to copy. The songs already have their own identity.
Big choruses, tight rhythms, dirty basslines, interesting guitar textures and plenty of space. Music that makes people move rather than stand around watching somebody play a five-minute guitar solo.
WHAT'S ALREADY THERE
A substantial catalogue of original songs and developed demos
Material already performed live
Studio recording and production experience
A clear musical direction and sound
Existing music industry contacts and management interest
An established music manager has already shown interest in the material and is keen to see how the project develops from my original singer-songwriter recordings into a fully functioning live band.
So there's already a foundation and some genuine interest. The next step is finding the right musicians to bring it all together.
WHO I'M LOOKING FOR
Lead guitarist: Creative, modern alternative sound. Strong riffs, hooks, textures and dynamics. Knows when to play and when to leave space.
Rhythm guitarist: Tight, punchy and rhythmically solid. Someone who understands how two guitars can complement each other rather than compete.
Bassist: Groove and presence are essential. The bass is a huge part of the sound, not just something following the root notes.
Drummer: Tight, dynamic and comfortable playing to a click where needed. Someone who understands groove, energy and playing for the song.
Backing vocals would be a bonus.
THE IMPORTANT BIT
I'm not looking for hired hands or people who just want to turn up, play their parts and go home.
I've written the songs and developed the demos, but the whole reason for putting a band together is to work with other musicians, develop arrangements, share ideas and create something bigger than the original recordings.
I want people bringing their own personality, creativity and energy into the room.
At the same time, there needs to be a shared direction, mutual respect and a commitment to actually getting things done.
No egos, no endless debates and no treating it like a casual jam.
REHEARSALS & COMMITMENT
Ideally weekly rehearsals, with the location agreed between us. I'm London-based but happy to travel for the right musicians and the right setup.
We can book a rehearsal studio that works for everybody. There's no fixed rehearsal location.
Own equipment and reliable transport preferred.
Age isn't particularly important. Attitude, ability, chemistry and commitment are.
The aim is to build a tight live set, get out gigging, record and release music, and develop a genuine audience.
I'm serious about giving this a proper go, but I also want to enjoy making music with the people I'm doing it with.
INTERESTED?
Drop me a message with a little about yourself, what you play, where you're based and your availability.
Please include a recording or video of your playing.
Happy to send demos so you can hear the material and decide whether it's something you'd like to be involved in.
Looking for the right musicians, not just the first available ones.
