We’re an established alternative/art-rock band based around the Calder Valley, currently a four-piece and looking to expand the live set with a fifth member, potentially a sixth.
We’ve released a growing catalogue of material, had BBC Introducing support, played good support slots with established touring artists, headlined respected independent venues including the Trades Club, and have further shows lined up in the North and London.
We’ve also recently recorded our debut EP with an established producer, and the new material has pushed the band into a much more expansive direction. We now want the live setup to reflect that properly.
We’re primarily looking for a multi-instrumentalist who can bring some combination of:
Keys / synths
Guitar
Backing vocals / harmonies
Additional instrumentation (desirable)
Ability on brass, strings, woodwind or other less conventional instruments would be a major advantage.
This isn’t simply about adding another guitarist. We want someone who can help broaden the arrangements live — atmospheric keys, layered vocals, extra textures, additional melodies and instrumentation that can appear differently from song to song.
Stylistically we sit somewhere around art rock, post-punk, alternative, psych, folk and cinematic music. Think along the lines of Nick Cave, Echo & the Bunnymen, Pulp, Slowdive, Richard Hawley and similar territory rather than straightforward indie rock.
We’re deliberately keeping the role fairly open. The right person could become a permanent fifth member, and we’d also consider bringing in two people if they offered different strengths - so if this fits the vibe and you can only play one well feel free to reach out.
More than anything, we’re looking for someone who is:
Creative
Reliable
Comfortable playing live
Able to contribute ideas rather than simply reproduce parts
Based around Todmorden / Hebden Bridge / Calder Valley, although Manchester, Leeds and Lancashire-based musicians would all be workable for the right person.
Age isn’t particularly important. Taste, personality, commitment and musicianship are.
