This ad is really just to test the waters to see if I might be able to locate some like-minded and very capable, fun musicians in East Anglia (I'm in South Norfolk myself) to put together a ‘live’ karaoke band.
The idea is this: choose a strong selection of classic Punk, New Wave & Indie tunes for people in the crowd to come up on stage and sing with a really great and tight band backing them up, lyrics and backing vocals provided.
I think the ideal lineup would be Drums, Bass (myself), and two guitarists, at least one of whom could also take on keyboard duties, sing backing vocals, and also fill in on singing and being a general MC for the night (and to fill in time if people are shy)
I say ‘testing the waters’ because it could take a little more thought or organisation than the average covers band, but not much more hopefully. I think if we could establish a night somewhere there's a decent chance of makign something very fun and worthwhile.
The range of music would start at early punk stuff, moving through post punk/new wave, and onto 80s indie, maybe stopping somewhere around 1995
I want to wait before putting a playlist together, but to be effective as a live karaoke band, I reckon 50/60 songs is probably about right. You can probably already imagine a few of the more obvious classic songs that would be included.
While it would absolutely be a lot of fun to do, I want it to be, at the very least, a well-thought-out working band, able to potentially play functions as well as pubs/clubs or even weddings and festivals.
If interested, please post a reply or a dm. No real age limitations, as long as you have the musicianship and are an easygoing person (this is a deal-breaker, I'm afraid), but you also have to be very capable and have the energy and enthusiasm to learn 50+ tunes and put on a really good show.
