Hi there!
The Fiery Lights are looking for a new drummer to join Sarah, Toby and Ian for the next part of our band's journey.
We're an established alt-rock band writing and playing our own original music. You can check out our stuff here: https://soundcloud.com/thefierylights or via our website: www.thefierylights.co.uk
Our influences are wide and varied, but I guess what we do is mostly guitar-based stuff rooted in alt-rock / indie, with some electronic overtones at times, a bit 80s and 90s synth-based stuff, occasional folk-rock, punk-rock, spoken word even. Lyrics and storytelling are a hugely important part of our songwriting. We use some samples and loops live to augment what we're doing. Have a listen to a few of our tracks and you should get an idea.
We have a lot of fun taking making music seriously. We laugh a lot, but also make sure when we stand up on stage to play a show, we're well-rehearsed and can give it our best.
What we're looking for...
We're looking for someone who is committed, reliable, who knows their instrument and who has the energy, positivity and personality to fit in to our group.
Gender: doesn't matter
Age range: we're between 38 and 50, so somewhere around there.
Availability: we rehearse once a week (Wednesdays, but could switch to Tuesdays if needed) in Tunbridge Wells. We gig every couple of months on average, but always keen for opportunities when they come up. Occasional extra sessions for recording, or rehearsing a bit more ahead of a show.
Ability: we're looking for someone with excellent timing and energy, who's comfortable gigging and recording, who can lock down the rhythm section and who preferably has experience being in a band, even if you've not been playing with anyone recently. In an ideal world, you'd also be able to play to a click, so we can trigger time-based samples live, but if everything else fits then this isn't totally essential to start with.
Equipment: ideally you'd have your own kit or the intention to get one very soon. We have our own rehearsal space where a kit can be left set up to avoid all the setting up / taking down that can be a hassle for drummers.
If you're interested, then reply via this ad and we'll go from there.
Thanks,
Ian, Sarah & Toby
