Smoketree Union are an established, gigging 90s–Modern Country band based in Essex, and we're looking for a versatile guitarist to join our lineup and share both lead and rhythm duties.
We cover a mix of classic 90s country and contemporary Nashville-inspired tracks, performing at festivals, clubs, corporate events and private bookings. Our live setup is fully professional, featuring a silent stage environment with in-ear monitoring, direct-to-PA guitar rigs and high-quality backing tracks to deliver a polished, modern country sound. We gig regularly across the South of England and East Anglia, so you must be happy to travel.
What We're Looking For
The playing:
A solid, reliable guitarist who is comfortable sharing both lead and rhythm duties and understands authentic country phrasing, tone and feel.
Important: We operate a fully silent stage setup using in-ear monitors and amp modelling/profiling systems (Helix, Kemper, Quad Cortex, Tonex, etc.). You must already be comfortable performing with in-ear monitoring and be able to run a direct-to-PA guitar rig.
This is not a traditional backline band, and there are no guitar amps or wedge monitors on stage. Applicants who rely on conventional amp-based setups and are unwilling to use in-ear monitoring will not be suitable for this role.
You'll need dependable gear, your own transport and a professional attitude.
The look:
Country aesthetic is part of our identity. Think western snap shirts, boots and hats. You should be happy leaning into the genre's style on stage.
The vibe:
Strong stage presence and positive energy. We want someone who enjoys performing and brings life to the show.
The vocals:
Backing vocals are highly desirable and will be a big advantage.
