THE SONS OF ILLINOIS is a well-regarded Blues band with a large social media following. We are a genuinely friendly and committed bunch of guys, seeking an accomplished, enthusiastic bass player to join our line-up: we are absolutely not looking for a dep or anyone dividing their time across multiple bands.
We are deeply passionate about the authentic sound of legends such as Howlin' Wolf, Muddy Waters, Little Walter, Sonny Boy Williamson, Elmore James, Bo Diddley, Slim Harpo and many more besides. Our repertoire is very diverse within the genre - straight-ahead, funky, down-right dirty - with so much scope for inventiveness!
Band line-up is vocals/harmonica, lead guitar, rhythm guitar, bass and drums/percussion. Check out what we do by finding us on Facebook, YouTube and Instagram.
What we're looking for is a bass player, with a genuine passion and feel for Chicago and Louisiana Blues (not 12-bar rock), who wants to be part of a great band. If you can also play an upright bass that would be amazing, but it's truly not essential.
With a good number of high-profile gigs in the book for 2027 at locations in the south-east, we need solid commitment to an initial run of once-weekly rehearsals (mid-week evening) in Epping.
We have a good PA system, lighting and stage displays, meaning there's no layout for hiring stuff!
So, if you're an accomplished bass player ready to help us deliver that classic Chicago Blues sound with authenticity and soul, we'd love to hear from you!!
Please get in touch with your experience and availability for an audition, ahead of which we'll send you some tunes to get your fingers around in preparation!
In order to get a reply from us, in your message please INCLUDE YOUR PHONE NUMBER, as we're sociable fellows who much prefer to talk than type!
Alternatively, you can text or call 07702 476686 and we'll take it from there.
