Hi all,
I'm from the Crawley/Horsham area, looking to start jamming/rehearsing and playing cover songs, in a acoustic duo band, with me on the guitar and someone else focusing on the singing.
I want to keep things as simple as possible with the sound, just having a singer next to me to focus on their voice and entertaining the crowd for the evening or afternoon.
I want a singer who can carry their own, I can help and accompany with backing vocals for a few bits whilst playing the guitar to help out, but as the singer and frontman/woman it will be your domain to sing and entertain the crowd along with my guitaring.
Just to give you an idea on what I've used and what I want to use with this, I do have some extra effects on my pedal board that I probably will use, a looper pedal so I can solo at points, a twelve string emulator pedal and reverb for some extra room space to give that really nice acoustic sound - but that's all I really want to use for this, I don't want to add any more, like delay or something else, but I normally plug my guitar straight into the PA system or keep an amp with a dry sound for my guitar, as the pedal board carry's all the effects needed.
Your own transport would also be required and if you have a PA and your own equipment that would be a bonus for now, as if this is pursued, I will look into getting some extra equipment like a PA and monitors later down the line if things work out.
My main ambition for this, is to to explore doing some covers that are completely different to the usual classic rock like Queen, Bon Jovi, White Stripes and Foo Fighters that I usually play and love.
There's so many more popular songs in the R&B, rap and pop genres that have classic popular songs that I'm wanting to give a go at, but never have, for example from Adele, Eminem, Craig David, Robbie Williams, Brittany Spears, Justin Timberlake and others that I feel would provide something different to what people are used to from a live band, so someone who is quite versatile in their approach would be a given, a singer that would want to switch between genres as well as songs.
These are just examples by the way, but don’t misunderstand that I don’t want to break away completely from Rock and Alternative Rock music as there are some classic songs in there too.
It’s just what will get people up dancing and singing with us throughout the night and they don’t have to be songs stuck in the past, any recent songs that work well I would want to give a go if people will respond to them - but in the beginning, would want to stick with what works with an audience first before we go exploring and trying out other songs.
Basically whatever serves the audience is what I'm trying to aim for.
For my own skills, I feel like I'm an intermediate guitar player, we would have to rehearse for you to make up your mind whether this is something you want to pursue, but I've got almost 20 years experience, so I consider myself quiet good.
I've been playing live shows for over half of those years, playing in full bands for 4-5 years and then an acoustic duo for 8 years, but now no longer active in that group.
I recorded a lot of the gigs that I've done in the past and did the videography for online use as well as drawing and designing the poster’s and logo ideas for the group I was previously in, so that skill would also be implemented within what we do as well, depending on what we do.
If you want to see these as well as any video footage, PM me and I can direct you from there.
I'm not expecting the gigs right away and it's not something I'm unfamiliar with regarding bookings, so I would want someone to do the same work regarding getting them, especially if we want to get paid for them, which is definitely something that I would want, I believe that yours's and my talent and time that should be compensated for a night or afternoon’s time of entertainment.
Hopefully this gives you a little understanding as to what I'm asking for.
If you have any interest, ideas or questions please PM me.
Thank you for reading all this.
Hope to hear from you!
