Vocalist / rhythm guitarist, mid-40s, looking for technically strong rock/metal musicians in North London to jam with.
I played and sang in a decent rock band at university around 2000–01. We were ambitious at the time, but life went in other directions. I'm now keen to get back into playing.
My roots are The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Hendrix, Cream, Thin Lizzy and Guns N' Roses, playing rhythm guitar and lead vocals. More recently I've been getting increasingly interested in the more intricate end of things — Iron Maiden, Metallica, Megadeth, Dream Theater and similar.
I'm particularly drawn to harmony and arrangement — strong lead and backing vocals, proper vocal harmonies, twin-guitar harmonies, interlocking guitar parts and counterpoint, and the occasional bit of classical influence buried inside a wall of guitars. I'm looking for really good musicians who enjoy getting those details right: tight playing, a great rhythm section, and enough musicianship to make the arrangements genuinely work. High standards, but without taking it too seriously.
I'd provide vocals and rhythm guitar. I'm a rhythm player rather than a shred/lead guitarist, so a technically accomplished lead guitarist would be particularly welcome, along with bass and drums. Being able and willing to sing harmonies would be a big plus.
Initially I'd like to jam and play great covers, perhaps developing into occasional gigs if we find the chemistry. Not looking to restart a music career — the point is to get in a room with good musicians and make something that sounds good.
Musically, somewhere on the spectrum:
Beatles / Cream / Hendrix / Zeppelin / Sabbath / Thin Lizzy / Guns N' Roses / Maiden / Metallica / Megadeth / Dream Theater
Based in North London. Rehearsing every week or two would be ideal.
If this sounds like your thing, drop me a message with what you play, your background and the sort of music you'd like to play.
