Hello.
We are a small Baptist Church in the heart of Walthamstow. We have a rich history and some of those traditional values remain. We are, however, realising that we need to grow and develop in our sung worship on a Sunday morning. We are looking for musicians that could serve us in a volunteer capacity.
We are hoping to find sensitive musicians who have personal faith, church experience and an understanding of the dynamics at play within a multi-ethnic, multi-generational congregation.
We are looking to create something appropriate for our context and would like to gradually produce a sound that is reflective of the broader cultural atmosphere emerging in Walthamstow.
We are looking for:
Keyboard/Pianists: Ability to read chord symbols and play appropriate chords and backgrounds for worship songs.
Drummers: Should have an excellent sense of time (steady beat) and variety of drumming skills consistent with the contemporary Christian music scene. Able to play sensitively in a Worship setting.
Guitarists & Bassists: We need both Lead and Rhythm guitarists. Able to play all required chords and Rhythm styles. Ability to listen and blend with the band. Bassists, you need to be able to read chord symbols and lay down solid bass lines.
Singers & Worship Leaders
Worship Leaders and Singers are required to have a deep personal faith and experience of Spiritual leadership within a developing contemporary progressive-evangelical Church context.
With regard to skills, both worship leaders and singers need to be able to sing on pitch and blend with other vocalists. Ability to harmonise is desirable but not essential.
We are not necessarily after professionals…attitude is really important.
We place a higher premium on character over musicianship.
Looking forward to hearing from you,
Rev. Dan Copperwheat
