Looking to get a Nick Cave Tribute together, with some PJ Harvey/Murder Ballads in the mix. I'm an experienced guitarist/vocalist, able to do a pretty good Nick Cave vocally, and currently working on perfecting that, but badly need keys/piano to form the core of the project with me, start getting a set together, and hopefully gather a few more Bad Seeds as we go.
A Nick Cave tribute probably seems a bit niche to the uninitiated, but the man can fill a stadium anywhere in the world, it's not easy/cheap to get to see him for real, and we wouldn't be competing with a zillion other tributes doing the same thing, so I think there would be some good work to be had.
I'd hope to be getting theatre/festival gigs once some promotional material was in the bag - but don't imagine we'd ever have a particularly punishing schedule, and frankly I've spent enough summers playing other peoples weddings every damn Saturday, so one or two good gigs a month would suit me well! I would like to be rehearsing regularly, though and treating this as a professional, if part time, project rather than a hobby.
Not especially relevant, genre wise, but in terms of experience, I've spent the last decade as co-frontman of a rock indie function band and acoustic duo (The Fabulators) playing all the usual suspects from Amy Winehouse to Foos and Arctic Monkeys. We were pretty damn good, if I say so myself, and played a lot of great gigs from broom cupboards to medium sized festivals to lots of weddings, parties, corporate events and a few of the better paying pubs.
