I’m a writer/producer working in K-Pop and EDM looking to collaborate with an aspiring female signer:
What I can offer: 40 years of session guitar and production, own state of the art logic studio, channel strips, high end mics et al
What it involves:
Studio-Initially working on various blues influenced EDM tracks which are spec at this point but my publisher has first refusal. Google “Serves you right by the Avener” and you’ll get an idea and no you don’t have to sound like John Lee Hooker: Anything we co-write will of course be credited to you for royalties, advances etc. using MU contracts and releases. That said I tend to write complete songs with guide vocals. It goes without saying I know how to guide you through tracking, mic and breath technique etc.
Live: Taking you up to live standard regardless of where you are now by working through a repertoire of blues/soul standards ( Willie Dixon et al) and initially honing your performance skills at Blues jams where there are plenty of semi-pros looking for female vocals to partner with for wine bar, coffee shop and bar gigs
If there’s potential I could consider setting up a band/duo/trio for paid work as I have a good network of competent musicians looking for work.
About you: This is a spec project and is about finding a collaborator for mutual benefit: You should be able to sing, have a characterful voice and enthusiasm: experience is irrelevant but an affinity for blues, jazz, soul, and Motown would be a good starting point. It doesn’t matter if you’re beginner or out of practise, we can get your skills and confidence to a high level quickly. If you can play an instrument to a reasonable standard that would be a bonus but I would happy to teach you how to play the guitar to a competent level (gratis, of course) .
I’m based just near Verwood with, as I said, a dedicated studio in which we can make as much noise 24 hours a day but hopefully at sensible hours given the choice. Its in my own detached house with plenty of parking and privacy in a pleasant neighbourhood of folk like me, so your working environment is civilised and even has the obligatory bean to cup coffee machine as well a draught beer dispenser with exotic Belgian monastery ales, useful for getting the real bar room vibe as well cleaning windscreens.
I am also a realist and make living from music primarily through writing and producing so don’t have any fantasies about becoming a headline act at Glastonbury etc, I have made a healthy and profitable career out of music without chasing the lottery of fame so you can expect a level headed, goal driven professional to work with not an arty dreamer.
