Hi guys!
First of all, if you aren't a particularly open minded person/group I may not be for you! My only goal is to be myself, have fun and make people FEEL something.
I'm an inexperienced vocalist looking to have some fun. I'm experienced at singing on my own, and confident I can tackle any vocals within my range, but my experience of gigging is limited to a few open mic nights.
That said, I am a passionate and confident 24 year old man, and I enjoy being the centre of attention. Not in a drama queen sort of way either, just that I'm not afraid of being myself in front of a crowd.
I've got long hair too, so of course that means I was born to be in a band.
I originally started my musical path as a budding electronic music producer, and I still really enjoy production. It gives me an opportunity to make a whole song from start to finish on my own, and I enjoy the freedom that comes with that. It also exposes me to the entire spectrum of difficulties faced by a creator, of which there are so damn many. I suppose it is a bonus that I enjoy production, as I have a small amount of recording gear too, so I can record and produce demos, and add to the bands sound using computer instruments and VST'S, as well as effects.
I am a wedding DJ on the weekends which means three things: I have an appreciation for the classics, I'm all about getting people up and dancing and having fun NO MATTER THE GENRE(!) And I have a small mixer and PA system...
I am a learning guitarist and pianist. Emphasis on learning. I am in the middle of learning some easy songs and some rather tricky ones, which I hope demonstrates that I am fond of a challenge and would love to learn from you as much as possible about the instruments! Eventually I would like to be playing guitar/keys whilst singing.
I am also very keen to learn drums. I used to be a very angry child (admittedly not anymore... You hope!) And so I found refuge in the school drum kit every now and then.
In short - I'm energetic and keen to put myself outside my comfort zone. I love performing. I've got no qualms wearing crazy clothes (ideally purple) and swishing my hair around if that's what you're into. I want to learn as much as possible about songwriting, instrumentalism and myself (oooh deeep).
Ideally I would want to do originals and some covers.
As I said earlier, I have appreciation for all music and to me the most important thing is to feel something. Be it intensity, exciment, hope, sadness, nostalgia... That's what my goal is. To share intense feelings with a crowd and have a lot of fun. Genres don't bother me. But here's a list of key inspirations:
Taylor Swift (guilty pleasure)
All american rejects/blink 182/green day (I did my emotional teenage growing in 2000's...)
Netsky/Fred V and Grafix (drum n bass, the producer in me)
Queen/Prince/the darkness/GnR/ACDC (for the unashamed epicness of their performances, as well as great music)
Meat Loaf (I would do anything for love... 11 minute version... Enough said)
Journey/Bon Jovi/whitesnake/Lionel richie (unashamedly 80's fun and emotional)
Pink Floyd (gotta love the long format)
As I said... Eclectic.
I realise this reads a bit like a CV, I just wanted to make sure you know as much about me as possible. Because we need to ensure we are right for each other! All I want to be is myself, and I am sure you guys feel the same. So I hope this gives you a window into my musical tastes and aspirations.
As a sort of final 'litmus test', would you feel comfortable doing a cover of this:
The Darkness - Growing On Me
In.not saying we should, just that I think that song does a good job of covering most of the aspects of the above at this stage.
I really look forward to.hearing back from you.
Peace
Elliot
