Hi i’m Rachel, Female, 23 from Newcastle upon Tyne wanting to gain some experience in working as part of a group/band/with other musicians and hopefully gain some stage experience and improve my confidence in performance, and work with open-minded, creative individuals. I would prefer people closer to my own age, however I have no preferences beyond that.
I am a vocalist (mezzo-soprano), there are no specific instruments I can play, therefore I would be seeking other member(s) who can play instruments very well (if not fluently). I write my own lyrics however have not formed them into songs, and I would want to work towards creating original material, however I would be keen to start with covers. Would be nice to have extra vocals however not a necessary requirement.
I have taken singing lessons from the age of 16, and I was part of the University of Sunderland Choir between 2014-2017 and in that time we performed at a variety of venues including the Sage Gateshead on 3 occasions. I cover mostly classical, traditional or musical pieces to explore my vocal range, however not reflective of my music taste or interests as such.
Genre of interest would be a variation of pop music, however open to other influences and willing to experiment and explore to create music and lyrics that stand out and provide a different or lesser-explored perspective/narrative. Here are examples of artists/bands I listen to frequently as examples that may suggest the type of music I enjoy and likely be influenced by:
Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift (predominantly 1989 onwards), Tove Styrke, RIVRS, Emma Blackery (predominately Magnetised EP onwards), Tessa Violet, Thirty Seconds to Mars, The Pretty Reckless (predominately first 2 albums), Ariana Grande (predominately Dangerous Woman onwards), Clean Bandit (predominately 1st album and singles), Pale Waves.
I would be open to forming something new if you have a level of experience that fits with what is outlined so far, however I would appreciate becoming part of something that is already together, and active to some extent, and becoming part of that journey.
I am sick of adverts on here being too specific or wanting to be mental/punk bands which is not for me. I have not found my “perfect advert”, so hopefully this may encourage someone with similar interests to speak up. Most of all, I am looking for someone who has an idea of how to find spaces to perform, appropriate venues and relevant gigs etc. As I lack knowledge in this area.
I hope this is not too broad or lengthy, and if you are interested and I like what I read from you we can talk more. I am open to public replies and private messages, and no response is too long - in fact the more detailed the better.
Thank you!
