Upcoming queer artist of colour, looking for 4 bandmates Leeds

Hi I'm cathy kio!

I'm a 20-year-old black, queer, upcoming artist in Leeds, and I've built a small name for myself over the past couple of years. I've played at Headrow House, Belgrave, Wharf Chambers, Oporto, Royal Park Cellars and other venues too. I'm also in regular contact with big promoters in Leeds. I make indie pop/ vibey music and I'm maybe looking to incorporate some hip-hop elements as well.

Ideally I'm looking for some other young, quirky musicians - maybe queer, maybe female and maybe of colour - to join my on stage for my gigs. (Queer, female and of colour are not essentials - just be a nice person and we'll get along

I would need a drummer, bassist, lead guitarist and synth player please - even better if you can sing backing vocals too! All the parts are quite simple, so it can be a learn on the job type thing if need be! I'm just after vibes and good stage chemistry mostly.

(My current band are lovely but they either no longer have the time due to 3rd year uni commitments, or have finished their degree and are heading home.)


We would mostly be gigging around Leeds, but I'm also looking to expand to other cities too; I have some connections in London I would like to explore.


I'm at uni working on a business module which would allow me to pay my bandmates properly, and this should be up and running by the time we start gigging. However, due to the ticket-sale based nature of the promoters in Leeds, I can't promise huge amounts for every gig. - Not until we make it a bit bigger anyway!
