Hi, I'm looking to join a band of enthusiastic high-quality musicians... I don't really mind which genre!
I could either join as a trumpet player or help on the sound engineering side (or both). I have a strong interest in helping a band to get setup with in-ear monitoring. I'm passionate about, and enjoy the challenge of getting the absolute best sound out of a sound system/venue so the band can sound the best it possibly can. I can also multitrack record live gigs and mixdown. Here's an example from a recent gig at Manchester Academy (not me playing trumpet though).

I hate to metaphorically blow my own trumpet, but it's an ad, so here you go! I've been playing the trumpet all my life. I took grade 8 aged twelve, and a music college diploma at seventeen. I've played jazz, soul, funk, blues, reggae, ska, pop, classical, baroque, and I've been concerto soloist with orchestras, you name it.
Rather than go to music college to become a professional player, I went to university at Cambridge instead, where there was still plenty of music to get involved with. I studied NatSci. and specialised in the perceptual psychology of hearing, which still to this day gives me a lot of insight into the science of sound, and how the human ear and brain process it.
Later on, I decided I did actually want to be a professional musician and sound engineer, so I studied Music and Sound Recording at Surrey (the Tonmeister course) where I got a 1st class degree. However, I became disillusioned with the prospect of a career working in music, so I became a doctor instead (mad, isn't it?!). I'm now an anaesthetist working in Manchester, but still have enough free time for music.
