Hi All!
I am an experienced bassist in both an original and covers capacity. I have had an idea bouncing around my head for a fair while now and decided this COVID malarkey might be a time to put it into action, given that we all have practice time at home due to light gigging schedules.
I am looking to form a cover band of a particular flavor. The idea is a more modern cover band than your standard 'Summer of 69' malarkey (i.e. most songs being from the last 20 years, targetting the general 20-40 age range). This isn't a strict criteria - older songs will feature, just not be the main event.
The setlist will be a real mixture of great songs across the most popular genres of the era. It will include standard rock songs (Foo Fighters, Queens of the Stone Age and the like), some funkier stuff (think Red Hot Chili Peppers, Bruno Mars, Justin Timberlake), a few for the ex teen rocker crowd (Greenday and the like) and a hefty dose of rocked up naughties bangers, really well-executed (think Britney Spears - Toxic, Scissor Sisters, Katy Perry, Vanessa Carlton, Kelly Clarkson, Maroon 5, Gorillaz).
As I say, it needs to be tight and well-executed to pull this off, so decent musicianship is required. Many songs will need to be changed quite a bit to pull off, which should be a fun exercise!
In terms of gig schedule, I think a pretty strict once a month max is required - I have done the covers circuit enough to know that picking your gigs is the best approach, rather than eating your weekends up playing the wrong venues to no-one. Quality over quantity.
Please do get in touch if you like the idea. If you have demos, great, but it isn't required - I will be auditioning members whenever it is that we are released from the lockdown.
Thanks
Dom
