So..... a month on from advertising for people to join a non-serious, "let's just play music we like and have some fun" band, we're now up to a three piece, with a first rehearsal booked for a couple of weeks time.
The deal is still the same. We're proper grown-ups (some more than others), and this is leaning in a 70s rock kind of direction. We're doing some covers to get started, but there's the option of sneaking in some originals too if we get some steam up. Covers we're practicing at the moment include Pink Floyd, Cream, Jimi Hendrix, Bad Company and Thin Lizzy - you get the idea.
We currently have a drummer and two guitarists - one of whom is covering bass until we get some more people in and a stable line-up.
But.... it would be good to have at least one more body in the room. Maybe two. At the moment, we're only looking at things that we can play with a power trio - but it would be good to open up the field for some more adventurous prog / hard rock stuff.
If you play guitar, bass or keyboards, and this sounds like the kind of thing you might enjoy, then get in touch. If you sing too, so much the better. Bear in mind that, at present we're centred around Milton Keynes.
This is not going to be a career move. It's unlikely to be a money-maker. We're basically looking for other local guys&gals who want to get out of their music rooms/living rooms/garages, shut down Rocksmith/Yousician/YouTube, take off the neighbour-pacifying headphones and play some tunes together, see what happens. Do it for the joy of it, maybe do some small gigs if it comes together, then back to the day job in between. Dad-band, basically. Play some tunes, then go for a pint and compare tour t-shirts. Exotic haircuts/trousers/piercings not required. Eyeliner optional.
"Don't Call Us" list:
Teenagers (sorry, but we're all really old. You will be too, one day. You just wait until your kids dismiss Bring Me The Horizon as "Dad rock". Don't say I didn't warn you.).
Passengers (no transport, no gear, no money for rehearsal rooms or beer)
Beginners (sorry, but we want to play, not teach - some past band experience would be good, but not essential as long as you can actually play songs with more than one chord)
Anyone who had to Google all or most of the bands mentioned above.
Timewasters (come on, guys. Do some prep. If we've talked about what we're going to play, learn the songs BEFORE you get to the rehearsal. Don't waste everyone else's time teaching it to you bar by bar because you can't be bothered.)
Sound like fun? Message me.
