Heya,
I'm a guitarist looking at putting together a Doors tribute / appreciation band so looking for members who are keen on Keys, maybe Bass guitar, a Drummer and of course someone who wants to SING! I have always admired the musicianship of the band - I guess born out of bluesy rock and jazz. Never too flashy with their extraordinary sound yet incredible accomplished musicians all the same.
In the short term it's just a bit of experimental fun to see if we could get it off the ground so practice when we can - would be incredible to get it polished to pull off a half hour set and perform something locally.
Age and vocal gender not important!!! I'm a shade under 40 with a love of their music and hopefully some of the skills to do their songs some justice. I've been playing guitar 25 odd years and have performed a number of their songs in cover bands absolutely adoring it. Not looking for tonnes of commitment so could easy work as a side project to your other band(s) but it would be nice to practice reasonably regularly. It's possibly a tough call for the Keys but I reckon the addition of a Bass player (as the Doors often did) would tighten things up and give a bit more freedom (I get it - Ray Manzarek is incredible!!).... and yeah finding Jim will be tough but i'm up for people with a bit of imagination!
I'm Sheffield (Sharrow / Nether Edge) based and could travel a bit if it works out.
I've got a pile of influences and experience in other styles so could probably be pulled in other directions if things clicked with the group…
Shout me if you got any questions or ideas...
