You're not alone.
Been in a tonne of bands and studios and on stages myself but you can always find yourself working your way into oblivion and end up losing sight of what it's all about.
I'm in that zone.
I've developed a huge back-catalogue of solo projects but definitely miss creating together with people and I've rarely been part of things that we didn't form from scratch. It's against all odds, these days to find that perfect opening that's right for you, I'm sure know. And it can be traumatic to think you found it but the band are still searching. When that happens, it's understandable but just doesn't feel the same.
There's a tonne about the current way of things that's driving me up the wall, I'll try to stick to relevance.
I play more instruments than most but this way it seems easier for the World to pass you over somehow.
Despite being much more work to achieve anything at all alone, people's self-sufficiency is hugely overlooked and rushed releases saturate platforms while you craft your gold to toss into the pool!
Bands, commercially, are slowly currently re-emerging but generally disappearing.
The time is now for positive change.
Bands are the way forward, as AI can't (currently) get up and do a gig... And my life is now dedicated to honour the Humanity of music, regardless of the fact that isn't usually a thing I'd write about... Though I have done; it's one of my personal inner purposes.
In standard band-searching terms, you're logically treated as an option and people will feel justified to vet you, as they 'are' entrusting you into their space... It's difficult to be auditioned, again, sure people get that.
A band should be like a family but how do you audition a family member? And it's likely to feel out of place questioning them in return during your audition, so it can be hard to gauge if it will be right.
I want to avoid it all and focus on the music, that's what counts.
Anything holding you back, I'm on your side to overcome it and whatever makes you shine, bring it!
I usually know if I vibe with you or not without any personal questions at all.
So I'm starting this brand new band and it'll be something REAL for anyone like me who's bouncing ideas around - or from one thing to another.
I'm straight up, usually talk less - If you're in, it'll be solid and permanent. I can't hide things so there'll be no secrets or bad suprises. No auditions without being informed exactly where you stand and what to expect moving forward.
If you can learn, let's go. If you can teach, I'm listening.
Anyone off kilter with the norm and frustrated with the quo...
Prospects await.
I'm not linking any music or profiles at this stage... Or sharing history etc but I'm all round strong.
It'd be awesome to hear from the situationally like-minded first. Anyone that understands and agrees where I'm coming from and if they want to play me what they do, I'll happily do the same. Open to style as long as it can logically work with groove and dynamics. I like dark, complex, multi-faceted arrangements and mixes but also straight grooves with a more predictable mosh pit effect.
You'll need 100% drive and passion (there really is no more to give) as well as be 100% 'done with everything else', otherwise we won't be in a similar frame of mind.
In broad terms, I blend Rock, Metal and melodic Progressive Metal with a bit of Thrash and Hardcore etc but incorporate my own group of unusual additional instrumentation.
I'm known to some for my lead guitar and deep, dark experimental lyricism.
I sing, scream low/high, rap and growl, anything that works. Yet this is an open proposition, I can take any role to suit, not just Vocalist but ideally, I would focus on that.
30 + only... No other rules.
Always got time for you... If you don't waste mine... Though sometimes it takes more than a few quick scribbled lines.
(The band name and all creative decisions will be made with/to suit the members but for now you can think of it as 'Prospects')
