This is a feeler ad to see if there are any musicians interested in helping to form a Spinal Tap tribute act.
This does not mean dressing up and acting out the film - that would probably be a bit sh*te. Instead the vision is to play the songs from their two/three albums to a high standard whilst using the in jokes and natural humour in between each song when engaging with the crowd. This is not a look alike project - it’s a homage to their (surprisingly) good songs, and the sheer brilliance of the humour in the film.
This is probably not to work in a pub setting and it will probably be best suited to ticketed venues like the Corn Exchange in Exeter where the gig can be marketed and get the audience it merits. Weddings are also quite unlikely - unless there really is a couple out there that want their first dance to be to Sex Farm!?
Getting there won’t happen quickly, so I do not expect to be gigging before the end of 2023.....or maybe 2024.....
This is potentially too niche and it might sink quicker than Stonehenge if it were thrown into a lake, or, it could be so niche and different that it turns out to be quite unique and brilliant.
There is a very fine line between clever and stupid as someone once said.
I am a guitarist who can sing and could I play either Dave St Hubbins or Nigel Tufnel, so either way another guitarist is needed. Also need a Derek Smalls on bass, Backing vox are needed for the harmonies for these two roles really. Also need Viv Savage on keys and a non-combustible drummer.
So, there you go. If you’re a fan of the film and actually like the music have a ponder and get touch using the reply function here if you’re interested.
If you’re an agent or a venue that would be interested, please also get touch. Be good to register any interest.
