Very experienced, soul and jazz-loving guitarist seeking an interesting project in the Worcestershire area!
I’m a very immature 61 with plenty left in the tank and the flip side is many years (45+) of live and studio experience.
I can comfortably handle a variety of styles, but for the last 25 years, its been mostly soul and modern/melodic jazz, dance music plenty of blues and some light rock in my earlier years, so fluent in those areas too.
Influences are many and varied. Whilst Mr Hendrix will always be number one, I get my jazz from Lee Ritenour and Wes Montgomery, melody and soul from Larry Carlton, bluesy jazz from Robben Ford and funk from Prince and Nile Rodgers. I like Cory Wong too.
This all fits nicely into various styles and if you think of artists like Incognito, Jamiroquai, Stevie Wonder. Fourplay, Chic, Brand New Heavies (and many others), you'll get the idea.
Full disclosure – I play in a well-established local soul band which I will continue with (having co-founded it 16 years ago, I really should), but there is room for another project to which I will give equal commitment.
Practical stuff – I have top quality gear (bless my job!) and transport. I’m also reliable and generally a low-maintenance team player. I also seem to have built a very good reputation with many kind people praising my playing style, almost as satisfying as the playing itself.
So that's enough banging on from me. Do get in touch with any ideas, but needless to say, serious ones are preferable to kite-flyers! I will respond to all.
Cheers!
Bill
