Hello,
This is a bit of a waffle/brain dump but...
I'm interested in doing something involving synths/keyboards, something not like your typical rock/pop band. Doesn't have to only involve synths/electronic instruments but I did think it would be fun to do a group that was just keyboards or something (I mean it has been done before with Kraftwerk and whatnot, but just as a starting point of reference...
I'm also looking for somebody or bodies to create/design/record some sampler/sampled instruments with- making instruments/sample packs for Kontakt/Decent Sampler/SFZ etc... I'm not very techie so someone more techie minded would be good.
I have a few ideas and I'm just seeing who's out there who might want to do something. Something you might find on the Erased Tapes or Serein- independent labels /./././././. But also maybe with some synth/dream pop, new wave thrown in-
Kraftwerk, Harold Budd, Eno/Hyde, Peter Broderick, Dustin O Halloran, Olafur Arnalds, Penquin Cafe, Vangelis, Goldfrapp, Gary Numan, etc that type of thing- maybe with a bit of funk/pop like early Prince records (like Dirty Mind) for good measure (he made really good use of early drum machines)
I also think The Police (the band) were quite inspiring in doing something a bit different, something a little exotic as it were. Then there are always some guilty pleasures, like Simply Red, Easy Listening and Sáde and other sophisti-pop kind of stuff which I think might be interesting to explore as they seem to be in low supply these days, just not the same old, same old.
Instrumentals would be good to explore but I'm also a songwriter so not averse to the idea of doing some songs with lyrics/words etc- could incorporate drum machines and other devices on occasion as I also may be up for something with a bit of a rhythmic edge
At the moment it's all open to negotiation and just exploring/having a chat about it all. I just want to do something
Could be a recording project or live streaming etc as well and it might be a bit niche for gigging/ may not go so well down the local pub!...
alThOuGh....
I have been thinking about the idea of a live ambient band for some years, or ambient busking either with keyboards/synths or iphones/androids- Maybe using some apps like Brian Eno's Bloom/10 Worlds, could even add a drum app like 'Necklace' for instance... I wonder if there would be copyright issues with doing that, but because it's generative music I don't see a problem... I thought about doing a tour of bandstands in parks all over the UK but it's not on my bucket list necessarily.
Ambient, Experimental, Postclassical, Neoclassical. New Wave, Post Wave, No Wave, Wave Wave, Dream Pop, Film Music, Library Music, Avant-Pop, Free Jazz etc
Drop me a line if it sounds intriguing!
