I’m looking for a drummer, guitarist, bassist and synth (or indeed organ) player to join an animated band. I’m a professional animator by, and whilst I have a bunch of songs written as demos and have indeed worked as music videos director in the past, getting a project on the go has been difficult to leave the house if an evening with small kids but I think something incredible could be made alongside my work as an animator. My project is called The Dead Lenses, so you can find a few bits of mine of socials but its very early days and feels like it needs a bunch of great collaborators to make it happen.
My tastes are very broad, the first song I put out feels like Nick Cave/The Doors vibes but I can reach for both blues and indeed metal aspects at the extremes of my songs dynamics. In terms of classical range, I’d be a bass but I have a fairly wide when needed. My biggest strength aside my visuals is probably my lyrics, which are a bit on the dark and storytelling side.
When I was a teen I used to front metal bands but no I’m nearly 40 I’m probably a different presence should this ever be something that can be gigged. I’m not precious on how old my collaborators are but do what to find people able to stick with a project (especially an animation takes time to complete) and proactive folks who have some ability to record their own parts is essential. I am owed an albums work of mixing and mastering by a client, so also have that covered. I’m based in Birmingham, UK.
