Hello local musicians,
I'm an aspiring performer from Belfast, seeking players who are looking to practice Irish song as a group, with a view to getting some gigs in 2026. If you play fiddle, accordion or something that suits the genre and you would like to have a go at playing together I'd love to hear from you. Wayfarers, casual players, nervous bedroom musicians, people who don't want the 9-5 are very welcome! My skin is thick enough for an entire group : )
Where:
South Belfast, maybe Ballynafeigh Community Hall for practices, but depends on what suits everyone.
I have loads of respect for people who play an instrument, respect is the most important thing in any group, however loose or new the group is. Just connecting with people who want to play this kind of music, for whatever your reason, would be a great start!
I'll keep adding to the youtube channel as I learn more songs, feel free to check it out!
About myself:
Aspiring singer, not an established musician, but looking to make the transition to paid gigs. Recently gone part time to spend 8 more hours a week practicing music. I define success as being part of a 3(ish) piece who can carry a song, play beautiful music for the punters, and being invited back to play again at local pubs.
I took bodhran lessons in the Glengormley School of Music when I was 13, competed with Bodhran in the Fleadh when I was 14 - it was a great experience. I switched to guitar chords and rock music at 14. I think my voice suits Irish song, and its time to take that step to live performance, but it would be more fun with other people!
Thank you very much for taking the time to read this ad.
