I hope you are doing well.
Firstly, my name is DBE and with a couple of musicians based in Oxford we have recently started jamming together. We have no prior on stage or studio recording experience. However, we are currently hiring a studio in Oxford for practice once a week for 4 hrs. All the equipment including the use of a drum kit is available.
We currently have a lead guitarist, a bassist and a rhythm guitarist/ vocals (we also frequently interchange instruments depending on the songs). I wouldn't necessarily say that we have a certain type of genre that we play. But at this stage our sound is very open to influences. We come from various mix of musical influences.
If I were to put my finger on it, I would have to say the sound is leaning towards Desert rock/ Trip Hop/ Groovy beats/ Blues/ with influences from rock, EDM etc. It is a bit of an amalgamation of sounds but is beginning to sound great.
I cannot give you any examples of bands/ artists that we are trying to sound like because we aren't. It’s a mixed bag. Also, the main focus for us is to not be too structured and routined therefore a lot of focus on improv and guest musicians playing wind and percussion instruments from around the world. But as I said there is not commitment to any kind or genre of music so long as it’s fun.
The objective is to get tight and then do some studio recordings of cover/ originals and then perform live in and around Oxford to start with.
Age is not something we focus on too much. But if you do, then we range from mid 20s - early 30s (male). We all have day jobs (unfortunately) therefore; practice is usually restricted to evenings/ weekends.
So, if you are interested in trying this out then drop me a message. We can book in a couple of sessions with you to see if this works for you and vice versa.
