Rock Guitarist Looking to Join or Form Band

I'm a 43 year old Rock Guitarist looking to join or form a band.

I'm a nice friendly positive guy who enjoys life and music, and would hope that either joining or forming a band would also lead to joining or forming friendships too.

I've been playing since I was 11 years old.
I typically play stuff by John Petrucci (Dream Theater), Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Jason Becker etc.
I've been listening to Tosin Abasi (Animals as Leaders), Polyphia and Jason Richardson recently too.
I am perfectly happy playing anything Rock or "Rocky", I'm also open to the idea of playing some the female driven material by the likes of Evanescence and Within Temptation.
For me it's more about playing great music with like-minded friendly musicians, so am very open-minded to what the material actually is or would be.

I'm not looking for a career or anything, I'm looking for weekly band practices with the view to gig maybe once a month.
I don't want to form a band that does only originals as I don't have the time resource for that, but would be happy to join a band with orginal material already in place.

If we were to form band I'd rather it be a covers band and have the option to write some original tracks later on if we decided to.

I'd prefer it be a four-piece of (Vocals, Guitar, Bass, Drums) or a five-piece of (Vocals, Guitar, Keyboards, Bass, Drums). I don't really like two-guitar line-ups (unless the vocalist wants to pick one up from time-to-time on the occassional track), I think 2 guitars just gets a bit mushy. And I have no preference of age or gender in any of the roles.

I've got good gear and my own transport. I'm quite the purist, I think a great guitar, top-spec guitar cable and a great all valve amp sounds better than anything else. I'm not really into effect pedals, racks and simulators etc.

So if anybody wants to group up and play some great music together, please get in touch.

Les Paul straight into a Marshall with no effects, that's how to be a groundbreaking musician who doesn't sound like he's stuck in the 1960s. Distortion and overdrive are sufficient originality.

As much as I do love the sound of a Les Paul straight into a Marshall (assuming a JCM 800): I use a Jackson Pro Series SL3M with Seymour Duncans, Mogami cable into a Laney LC50 with 4xECC83's in the preamp and 2xEL34s in the Power Amp (standard in this amp tbh).

I've had so many different guitars, amps and effects and so much other gear over the years it unbelievable. But I've always found the best sound comes from the guitar, a high spec cable, and the best sounding amp you can find.

As soon as you put a pedal in the chain you can hear it sap the tone, even when it's bypassed (pedals have buffers in), and obviously; once you put digital effects in, you've sacrificed your analogue dynamics for a bunch of 1s and 0s.

I totally appreciate that some guitar sounds are just expected to have an effect on. For example, when I play Dream Theater - Pull Me Under, I don't have a chorus or delay on the clean tone, but I do switch the amps reverb on, so there is some space being added to the sound. Admittedly, it doesn't sound like the album, but it does sound nice still, and when the intro is over I switch the reverb off and I'm playing with pure uncompromised analogue valve tone.
