Hello fellow musos,
We are a gigging, four piece (female vocals, guitar, bass and drums), Bristol based, blues dance band that is now looking for a new bass player after our current bassist moved away from the area. All very friendly and amicable.
We been in existance since the beginning of last year and have managed to develop a fab following of cool blues dancers in the south west area and are planning to break out into the wider blues scene, including regional and, perhaps, even inter/national blues dance festivals. Gigs already booked later this year.
This is not your typical, pub shouter, guitar driven, proud to be loud, blues bands for old blokes to sit on their bar stools sipping on their real ale waiting for their favourite, cheesy R&B tune.
This is all about performing a variety of traditional and contemporary blues tunes chosen specifically for people to dance to. The set list we have developed comprises many sub genres of the blues including Chicago, Country, Delta, Texas, New Orleans, Protest, Gospel and soul to provide the dancers with the variety they enjoy dancing to.
Artists included Etta James, Nina Simone, Melody Gardot Howlin' Wolf to Portishead! The current set list is available for reference, on request, as are clips of the current band performing.
The tunes are chosen for their variety and danceable tempos with input from local blues dancers/DJs and all have interesting dynamics, stops and rhythms. They are not selected for their 48 bar guitar solos or cheesy, singalong choruses (well apart from the encore!).
Rehearsals will be arranged to be as equal a distance for all band members but probably in the Bristol area.
If this concept is of interest and you are tired of performing the same old blues tunes in dingy pub back rooms and want to be involved in a band with real integrity with the opportunity to develop a scene following, then this could be the band for you.
We can send a video of the blues dance scene to give an indication of the type of vibe and venue we will be aspiring to.
There are regular blues dance events in the area which are very inclusive and a delight to perform to.
Give us a shout if this is your thang and we can see if we can make some groovin' blues magic.
As band chemistry is very important to us, we'll arrange a social meet up to ensure we are all on the same page and get along well before committing to musical activities and then, hopefully, developing some sweet blues music together. We hope to undertake initial meet ups/auditions in late April and commence rehearsals soon thereafter.
All responses will be responded to promptly and the same is expected in return. Lack of response will be taken as lack of commitment. Please no dreamers/time wasters as life's just too short.
Thanks for reading and looking forward to hearing back.
