Experienced guitarist looking to form a dedicated, high-quality tribute to R.E.M. The goal is to build an authentic, gigging live act.
Our setlist will be a career-spanning celebration—every single album will be catered for on the set, from the early IRS college rock days (Murmur, Reckoning) right through the massive 90s hits (Out of Time, Automatic for the People) and their later catalog.
I am based in Newry, but I am completely willing to travel to rehearse and gig with the right people.
Commitment Level:
We want to keep this sharp but manageable.
Expectation is rehearsals twice a month initially to get the set tight. Once we are gig-ready, we will drop down to once a month to maintain the set between live dates to work on new tunes.
Looking to fill the following roles to complete the lineup:
* Lead Vocalist - Michael Stipe: Looking for a charismatic frontperson who can capture Stipe’s unique vocal range, enigmatic stage presence, and distinct lyrical delivery across all eras.
* Bassin’ & Backing Vocals - Mike Mills: A critical role. Need a solid bassist who can replicate those melodic, driving basslines while confidently delivering Mills’ signature high, soaring backing harmonies.
* Drummer - Bill Berry: Looking for a rock-solid, precise drummer to drive the rhythm section. You should be able to lock in tightly with the bass and nail Berry’s energetic, driving post-punk beats. (Backing vocals a major bonus!)
* Keyboard Player / Multi-Instrumentalist (with Vocals): Looking for a talented keys player to handle the piano/synth textures, provide extra backing vocals, and strap on an acoustic/rhythm guitar when the songs require that extra layer.
About You:
* You are a fan of R.E.M. or highly experienced in tribute/cover dynamics.
* You have pro-level gear and reliable transport.
* You possess a collaborative, ego-free attitude.
* You can commit to individual practice at home so rehearsals are for locking it in, not learning the tracks.
