Every now and then I place an advert looking for others interested in playing Country music. Not MoCo (though I won't refuse to play Chattahoochie or Blue Ain't Your Colour or Friends In Low Places if you really insist) but the real thing ... Hank and Johnny, Merle and Waylon, Dolly and Patsy.
Hasn't happened yet but don't ask, don't get, so I'm trying again. I'm in no great hurry, I have lots of band activity in my life (rock'n'roll, covers, and soul) and 80/90 gigs a year, so I can afford a slow burn to find the right people.
I don't do 'hobby' bands; all the bands I play in are gigging bands and get paid for those gigs. I'm pretty sure I can get paying gigs for a decent Country band. Nobody getting rich, maybe, but better than just petrol money.
I play either bass (upright and electric) or keys, I sing BVs and - if nobody better turns up - I suppose I could take lead vocals. But I'd be surprised if five musicians in a room, picked at random, didn't turn up at least one better vocalist than me.
I have a decent rehearsal space at my house in Harrow HA1 and a PA capable of taking on any gig I've yet needed a PA for, so there's no extra costs beyond marketing.
It would be most convenient if the members of the band lived in the area Harrow - Gerrards Cross - Abbots Langley - Edgware but I'm open to persuasion. I'm 300 yards from a tube station (Piccadilly Line) which might be helpful but please don't waste your time contacting me unless you own and drive your own car.
In 2023 I would expect any gigging musician to be able to supply links to online video footage of them performing ... Facebook, YouTube, whatever. If you share with me then I'm happy to share right back at you.
