Looking to form a new prog metal band primarily inspired by Nevermore. Currently have a confirmed vocalist and a rhythm guitarist/vocalist (myself) and an unconfirmed bassist, so NEED a drummer and lead guitarist to really get the project off the ground, but will also happily audition interested bassists and rhythm guitarists to ensure that we get the best members that we can for the project, so don’t be afraid to reach out if you are a rhythm guitarist or bassist!
Main requirements for those interested in auditioning:
Guitarists will need an 8-string guitar (though a 7-string set up to 8-string tuning is acceptable).
Bassists will need a fretted 5-string bass or fretted 6-string bass (though a 4-string set up to 5-string tuning is acceptable). While our personal preference is for a bassist who plays with fingers if possible, using a pick is absolutely fine!
Drummers will ideally need to be able to play double bass without using triggers. This is purely a preference, though!
All applicants will need to be familiar with Nevermore’s music (Dead Heart in a Dead World and onwards in particular): if you aren’t a fan of Nevermore, this isn’t the band for you!
All applicants will need to be able to perform live. As a result, all applicants will also need their own gear for live shows.
Supporters of right-wing politics, do yourself a favour and don’t bother applying: we hate everything you stand for and aren’t interested in debating you.
Optional:
A general fondness for progressive metal as a whole (ideally including familiarity with Meshugggah, Gojira, Polyphia and/or Animals as Leaders).
Knowledge of jazz and world music theory (post-bebop for jazz, Latin, Indian, Eastern European and/or Middle-Eastern for world music).
Ability to perform vocals live. It doesn’t matter if it’s screamed or sung, if it sounds good and it fits the band’s sound, you’re good!
Previous experience at performing, songwriting and/or recording.
Has own transport.
Ability to play other instruments (please specific the instrument/s and your level of proficiency at them).
Any further questions, drop me a DM and I’ll do my best to answer them ASAP!
