I'm aware that this is a tall order, as we're looking for a very rare beast!
Elvis to Elton is a brand new Rock 'n Roll tribute show which debuted this month to rave reviews. We're now taking some time out to process the professionally produced video, photos and soundtrack into a showreel to distribute to promoters, hotel chains and venues.
We have a website and social media presence. We're adding another dancer to our troupe then going back into rehearsals. We have a dedicated production team in place to move this exciting product forward, and are developing our own merchandise. But....
Our guitarist is sadly needing to step away due to his own workload, and is unable to give us the commitment needed, and so we're looking to fill some pretty big shoes, to be honest.
Firstly, you need to be a strong notation reader, as we play our own written arrangements which are constantly evolving and liable to change at short notice.
You should be passionate about the genre and able to reproduce all the sounds and solos of the era, as well as effectively backing the other performers.
We rehearse regularly in our own time - simply because we believe in our product and want to make our show the best it can be so that it gets off the ground and can move at its own momentum. Basically, we're paid for the performances - but not for rehearsals at this point. Our ideal bandmate will be one who wants to buy in to this.
At full strength, we will consist of 6 pro-standard instrumentalists and 4 professional female singer/dancers led by an exceptional pianist, lead vocalist and compere, celebrating rock n' roll music from 50's Elvis Presley to 70's Elton John - via superstars like Buddy Holly, Jerry Lee Lewis, The Beatles, Rolling Stones and Tina Turner - and that's just the tip of the iceberg!
As if that weren't enough....do you believe in inspiring the next generation of guitarists? We're closely affiliated with a secondary school in Portsmouth, who allow us to use their premises for rehearsals at no charge, and whose premier band are our support act. Several members of our band either teach there full time, or on a peripatetic basis. Would you be prepared to pass on your guitar skills and help change young lives?
The Rewards - i.e....What's in it for you?
1. Money. Yes, we're currently speculating to accumulate. But the bottom line is that we intend to earn money (at pro-rates) out of this: and who wouldn't want to make a living out of doing what they love?
2. You'll be part of a very tight-knit bunch of talented and experienced musicians & dancers. We work hard, we take our music very seriously; but we laugh a lot and enjoy a lemonade (or two) afterwards.
Are you the extremely rare beast we're looking for to take our production forward? Here's what to do:
Please leave a private message on here. If all feels good, then we can swap numbers & email and I'll forward you the set list, charts & rehearsal tracks. Final stage will be an audition with our MD, Asst. Director & the rest of the rhythm section.
Let's get this show (literally) on the road!
