We're a fairly large gothic chamber pop ensemble looking for some new blood - someone reliable who fits with the others and wants to develop along with us.
Experience level is not as important as getting along with the others, turning up and contributing interesting ideas. We even have some equipment you could use.
You'll get to practice every week, make music videos, be in photo shoots, play live at least once a month and do interesting projects (we've played an underground Halloween gig and a gig with a brass band).
You might be interested in having a go at any of the following:
- backing vocals
- percussion
- strings
- woodwind/brass
- something we haven't thought of
We're releasing a new album in Spring, and looking to build momentum.
- We practice Monday nights in Gateshead
- Our band has a mix of genders, ages and ND people
- We welcome disabled artists, all ethnicities and genders, and people with a similarly open mind
- We're looking for someone around ages 26 to 52, but that's not super important
- We already have lead vocals, viola, cello, keys, guitar, bass and drums
We’ve released 3 albums, played sold-out headline gigs, played festivals, had radio play, and been well-reviewed.
You can hear us at https://amateurornithologist.bandcamp.com and check the vibe/personalities at instagram.com/amateurornithilogist.
We like David Bowie, Talking Heads, Cate le Bon, Interpol, The Coral, Wire, Kate Bush, The Beach Boys, Roxy Music, Peter Gabriel, Brian Eno, Field Music, John Cale, Cocteau Twins, Siouxsie and the Banshees.
We're not looking for anyone who wants to make money, be a star or show off their rock skills. Everyone in the group supports each other and wants to contribute to the sound, not be the centre of it.
Message if you have any questions.
