We’re The Wang Dang Doodle, a blues band looking for a piano/Hammond player to join us as we get the band properly up and running again.
We’ve been together for around 12 years, but took a break for the last couple. We’re now coming back with a new set, new songs and gigs already lined up for 2027.
Our sound is rooted in blues, but we like to push it beyond straight traditional blues. Our current set includes songs by Muddy Waters, Howlin’ Wolf, James Cotton, The Black Keys, Kenny Neal, The Rolling Stones, Awek, Joe Louis Walker and others.
We’re based around the South/London area and have played everywhere from Southampton to London and up to Bedford. Going forward, we’d like to travel further, play more venues and get the band out there again.
We’re not just looking to turn up and jam through a collection of songs. With the new material, we want to put together a proper live show — working on arrangements, dynamics, intros and endings, transitions between songs and how the whole set flows on stage. Because of that, there will be rehearsals while we get the new set tight.
A little bit of our history: in 2016 we won the Hard Rock Cafe's London Battle of the Bands, which led to us representing London/UK in their worldwide competition.
We’re looking for someone who is into this kind of music and understands how piano and Hammond can really add to a blues band. Someone who enjoys playing live, is happy to rehearse and wants to be part of building the band back up rather than simply turning up for gigs.
