Hey guys,
A little info about the project, basically what we're doing is we're coming up with a theme to write an ep/ album about and then using that theme as the basis for narrative within the songs. We then use this narrative to decide how the music will sound to suit whatever is happening within that particular story, which is why I've said it's cross-genre - though we'll be using whacky prog/ math-rock riffs, with huge metal and punk/noise inspiration as the base. We'll step out of that occasionally when the song requires it, but this will be our typically style to avoid complete alienation of the listener.
For example if we were to base the theme on sexy guitarists, then we might write a song about a guitarist applying to play for us, as that's probably the sexiest thing a guitarist could do.
We're considering continuing on as a three piece for ease, but we would like to find that cherry on top. it's best if you have some experience playing with fucky time signatures as we're very inspired by math rock bands so will be wanting to incorporate a lot of metric modulation into our music. Don't worry if you don't though, we can help you through it if you're less experienced with that. Something that is quite important is that you can provide some gang vox, some screams (especially lows, I can't do that sh*t) and some harmonies.
As it stands both myself and the bassist have a plethora of experience when it comes to running bands and gaining popularity, with multiple tours and countless hours in studios under our belts, and our drummer is a little bit less experienced, but still has touring and studio experience with his recent band.
We write completely collaboratively, and only finalise things when everyone gives their okay. Everyone has full veto power, so if you don't like a section in the song, let us know what it is that you don't like and we'll work together to find a solution. This does ofcourse slow things down, but at the end of the day we'll all be proud of the music we're making and that's what counts. With that in mind, we are writing things at the moment but we're not super attached to anything just incase we end up going a different direction once we get you in the writing room.
In terms of what committing to this band will look like in the short term, we're hoping to have two sessions a week, one in the writers room and one in a rehearsal studio, so we can constantly keep writing whilst building our live sound. Doing things this way also means that if you miss one session, it's not the end of the world, though ofcourse it's bet if you can join us for the most of it.
