PERMANENT DRUMMER WANTED TO JOIN SOLID 8 PIECE HIP-HOP / FUNK BAND
Mellowmatic are looking for a new committed drummer to join our 8-piece collective and take over from myself, who’s been the drummer for the last 5 years since starting the project.
We are a genre-blending funky hip-hop band with elements of rock and jazz, with 5 years of success on the UK live circuit, performing at some of the major festivals (Glastonbury, Boomtown, Isle of Wight Festival, Greenman, Shambala, etc) as well as support tours in venues from Cornwall to Scotland. We’ve recently joined a new agency roster and are planning our own small UK tour in April 2026.
Line up currently includes drums, bass, guitar, keys, sax, trombone, rapper and female vocalist. We’re in our 20’s-30’s and based across the south (Gloucester, Swindon, Oxford, Guildford, London and Bournemouth).
Rehearsals are occasional (unpaid, and usually around Reading/Newbury) and gigging is quite regular (especially weekends and festivals in the summer).
Finances are honest – some shows cover expenses only, others offer solid splits. It is a passion project with great opportunities, best suited to someone with a main income source already.
We are looking for:
- A consistent, reliable drummer (no deps – you become part of the family)
- Someone comfortable playing across styles and holding down a high-energy show
- Commitment to be as available as possible at weekends (especially weekends during the summer months/festival season)
- Located in the south (cities mentioned above where band are currently from)
- A team player who loves the buzz of live performance
- Must have experience playing live and own gear
- Must drive
This is the chance to slot into an already established and professional band, while having fun along the way.
