Looking for musicians who are able to leave their ego at the door and put discovery/exploration and the love of creating music/art as a priority.
About me:
I've always believed that the more tools in your belt, the better equipped you'll be when creativity calls.
For that reason I've always been intrigued by music theory and understanding why something sounds good etc.
Through jazz theory, the idea of call/response, tension/release, repetition/variation have always been things that I've found hugely useful to understand.
My current place right now on my musical journey: while I've always thought rhythm is important, only now have I realised it's overwhelming significance.
The kind of person I'd enjoy speaking with and getting to know is someone with a somewhat solid understanding of music theory and a willingness to learn/explore further. (Drummers less so for melodic aspects).
Building music where the instruments are complimenting each other, playing off one another in a way that creates interest and builds anticipation and momentum.
Keys/Bass/Guitar:
A somewhat solid understanding of theory would be ideal.
Open to the idea of discussing and exploring concepts like, appreciating space, syncopation, rhythmic/melodic interplay (complimenting/contrasting melodies and rhythms) etc.
Drummer: same as above but minus the melodic components and more emphasis on the space aspect. Knowing when to syncopate, leave space, which rudiments to explore to emphasise the more important rhythmic aspects of the overlying melody.
Ideally can sit nicely in a groovy pocket.
I appreciate this probably sways on the side of the more in-depth and particular ads here. I am not expecting or hoping for Mozart to send me a message but if you're keen to explore and have a chat then don't hesitate to send a message.
Big love
