Hi, I am the bass player of 70s glam rock tribute band Glam Roxtasy. We have been together a number of years and have been playing social clubs and parties etc as one of the leading glam rock tribute acts around. We play the usual songs from bands of that era and which include sweet, Slade, trex, bolan, Bowie etc etc. We also dress the part in authentic glam rock 70s outfits to make the tribute act complete.
With covid and with the band mainly working full-time let's just say we weren't the best at pushing for gigs prior to lockdown! and like most bands we haven't done anything in the past year or so which has led us to re-evaluate the band and the direction we now go on..
Obviously lockdown hit and unfortunately our singer reluctantly decided to join a more local band to him over Portsmouth way and the guitar player is non committal at present due to being in am original band.
Myself (bass) and drummer have decided that we want to continue, and ideally was hoping to find a singer who could play guitar and with a view to becoming a 3 piece band playing not just 70s glam, but adding maybe 10 to 15 numbers from the 80s glam era (hair metal) along the lines of kiss, leppard, motley crew etc.
We are hoping this slight change will assist in getting further gigs and expands the bands niche a touch, playing two 45 min sets (first half 70s, second half 80s.
Anyway, are you a singer that plays guitar to complete a 3 piece or a non playing singer who wants this great opportunity to front the band and do something a little different to all of the other bands who are knocking out sex on fire etc each week?!
Likewise if you are a great guitarist who fancies rocking out with us whilst playing some great tunes from the 70s/80s??
Many of the 70s/80s tunes have keyboards and as such we would love to add a keys player to the band to complete the line-up!
If interested, then let's meet for a chat!
We our experienced musicians and have played numerous gigs in this band. We have a good enough pa/lights/backdrop and have a full 30 song repertoire tried and tested which myself and drummer know well. It would be just a case of singer and guitarist getting upto speed and choosing the best 15 of the 30 existing Glam songs, before choosing a whole second set consisting of 80s hair metal! (Jovi, Def leppard, motley crue, kiss etc)
We are late 40s and just want to get back playing again and more importantly meet new friends and have fun! . After the year we've had it will be great to just practice for a few months!
Whilst we want the band to be good, it's important that we don't take ourselves too seriously and being mates/having a laugh much more important! That said, we want the act to be authentic to the particular eras and for us to be a great tribute act.
Anyway, this is a good opportunity to join a good and fairly established tribute act!
Look forward to hearing from you!
