I'm looking for like-minded musicians to start an original band/project, somewhere in the world of indie folk, alternative country, acoustic emo and the old Saddle Creek sound.
I've already written a substantial number of songs and have the foundations of a project in place, but I'm looking for people who can bring their own ideas, influences and creativity to the music and help turn these songs into something bigger and better.
I'm open to pretty much anything instrument-wise: guitarists, bassists, drummers, keys, strings, brass, or anything a little unconventional. I'm not necessarily looking for a traditional band setup. More interested in finding the right people and seeing where the music takes us.
Some influences include:
Bright Eyes, Rilo Kiley, Son Ambulance, The Cure, Bruce Springsteen, Leonard Cohen, James Blake, Death Cab for Cutie, Purple Mountains, Jason Molina, Bob Dylan, The Felice Brothers, Teenage Fanclub and plenty more.
Sonically, I'm imagining something rooted in acoustic songwriting but with room for layered arrangements, interesting textures, harmonies, noise and experimentation. Sometimes stripped-back and intimate, sometimes loud and sprawling.
I'm not looking for session musicians or people to just play what they're told. I'd love to find people who want to have a genuine creative input and help shape the sound of the project.
Ultimately, I'd like to get a group together, develop the songs, record some music and eventually play live.
I have a lot of experience within the music industry and took a long hiatus over the past few years. Looking to get back into it all.
