Looking to form a band to write/gig/record original material across the pop rock/alt/shoegaze/ambient spectrum - i.e. music with some energy but not too hard. I've got quite a lot of stuff already which we can get started with, but writing, recording and gigging new stuff would be the eventual aim.
I'm a singer (36/M) and been playing rhythm guitar/keys both solo and in bands for over 20 years to a fair standard. I have a 9-5 job and a partner, so I'm not looking to turn this into my entire life, but I've been itching to get out writing and gigging with a band again - thinking maybe once a week practice/writing (ideally a weekday evening), and a few gigs a month?
I'm not fussed about the structure/instruments, but minimum I reckon we need Drums & Bass to get going. A second guitar/keys/second vox/other instruments would be super cool too.
I like to write accessible songs, some ambient and chilled, some rocky (but not super heavy), with interesting elements - i.e. some fancy chords, a cool time signature, interesting sounds/textures etc.
Some idea of where my head's at in terms of style:
Foo Fighters (My fave band - love their 'quiet/loud' dynamic)
The Cure (one of the best live shows I've ever seen)
Everything Everything (great mix of interesting/odd and hooky/pop)
Wolf Alice (again great mix of interesting/odd and hooky/pop)
Smashing Pumpkins (love the lo-fi vibe)
Kings of Leon (Pre 2007 and Post 2010...basically not the 'Sex on Fire' era)
Slowdive (shoegazey ambient lushness)
U2 (Bono is divisive but you can't argue with that back catalogue!)
